Grabbed this interesting cartoon from 37 Signals Flickr Link. I think it sums up one of the main things we are trying to defeat with ConceptShare.

Ok, I think this is pretty big news, and i think it couldn’t have happened at a better time.
“Garage Technology Ventures, a seed-stage and early-stage venture fund based in Palo Alto, today announced the launch of Garage Technology Ventures Canada, LP, a $50 million ($Canadian) fund that will support emerging technology startups in Canada and leverage the Garage links to Silicon Valley and the broader U.S. technology community. Garage Canada represents the first affiliate fund for Garage Technology Ventures.”
Canada needed a wake up call and this is it.
“The Garage Canada Fund enables us to tap a very strong wellspring of innovation and talent in Canada, and span the North American continent†says said Bill Reichert, managing director of Garage Technology Ventures.
I think there will be alot of great things to come from this move. Lets face it they have made some great moves in the past.
I think the Canadian market is perfect for this type of investment, we have some tremendously smart people out there with great ideas Conservative bankers of Canada better take note.
I will be keeping an eye in the future.
Cheers to Guy and Co

Many of you know that i am a recent convert to the world of Mac. I know many of you have heard this from me in the past but once again Mac has done it right.
So i have been on a laptop for about that last 6 years. In that time i have had dells, emachines, and a toshiba. Now i have my Mac Ibook. I am going to skip over all the other reasons i love it and boil it down to the one thing that they have done that has made my life a lot easier.
The Mac readers will take this for granted but it will surely make the PC users go out and search for a driver that will do this.
I have never been a fan of the scroll pad on any computer. But from time to time i have found myself with out the mouse and had to use the scroll pad. When I started I assumed that Mac scroll Pads are the same as PC scroll pads…..whoa big difference.
Mac’s have this feature called 2 fingered scrolling. Use one finger the mouse moves as you would expect. Use 2 fingers and the document moves ….vertically and horizontally…..yeah getting thru your spreadsheet just got easier, as did moving thru all of those lists that you need to navigate. This feature is such a welcome addition.
Ironnically this feature does not work 100% in Adobe Acrobat nor does it work with flash paper.
But for those massive excel files …..makes things very easy.
cheers

I was reading about the new Nyko Intros Xbox 360 Cooling Solution. Its basically a product that answers the pain gamers have by the extreme heat the xbox 360 produces that has been said to cause the system to freeze up and even shut down. It got me thinking… and I was marveled at the way that product flaws can create a whole line of products that people are ready to buy. Whole companies are even formed around just waiting for designers to screw something up so they can create a product to fix. Of course there’s always definite  room for customization and accessories for popular consumer products. But look at the iPod for instance, and how many accessory companies and products are out there that focus around the idea of protecting your iPod and especially the scratch prone screens. Basically its product designers who pick up the pieces that the original designers or engineers may have dropped. If you are looking for opportunities, flawed product designs that have solid market share may be a good place to look. However there is the question of sustainabiliy with this strategy. If the iPod was protected out of the box would these products have to exist? If they updated the xbox 360 with better cooling, does this Nyko cooling station stop production?Â
