One of the best designers I have had the fortune of working with has decided to step out on his own and take on the world. Let me be the first to say it is about time! Curt Lazure, not only a great guy but a hell of a designer who gets “it”. The interesting part of the story is that Chris Daoust and myself both worked for that same company at one point.

Curt had been the center of all thing creative that came out of our former employer. Being a mid sized firm it forced all of us to be masters at many different skill sets under the guise of one job title. I truly admire Curt’s ability to move between 3d animation, web-design, traditional print to Large format with incredible ease and expertise. He has managed some incredible projects for Ontario Lottery, MBNA Canada, Ontario Power Authority, Laurentian University and so many more that I would need this whole post to communicate them all.

Curt sums it up with these words “I really like to focus on building corporate brands, it allows me to delve into all facets of the client needs. My broad skill set enables me to be involved across the entire process from the creative idea to the implementation across the all of the various medias.”

I think I have convinced Curt to also be a guest writer on Thoughtballoons. He will be looking at design tricks, tips and other curiosities of the design world. He was a bit hesitant about the idea, but figures that he has more then a few tricks that he has learned over the years that he would like to share.

So in the mean time if you are looking for a great designer. Please give curt a shout. He is a great guy who would be a great asset to your design project. He is also a fan of ConceptShare, so distance is no problem.

This is one of my favorite 3d pieces that he has done. If you think this is scary you should see the whole dinosaur.

Here is one that is a lot softer. This campaign has been very successful and has outdone the clients expectations!

So don’t take my word for it, give curt a shout to talk about your project. He can be reached at curt.lazure (at) gmail (dot) com

Congrats Curt ….

Cheers

Scott
